All About Johnny Templin
Johnny Templin is a longtime Nicholasville resident, community advocate, and problem-solver who believes local government should work for the people it serves. He is also a devoted father of six and proud Papaw to 14 grandchildren, all raised and graduated right here in Nicholasville.
For nearly a decade, Johnny has been deeply involved in frontline community work as the founder and executive director of the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition, a local nonprofit that has helped more than 2,300 individuals stabilize their lives through housing support, employment assistance, and accountability-based programming. Under his leadership, the organization has coordinated large-scale community efforts including emergency warming centers, holiday meals serving hundreds of residents, diaper and family supply distributions, and ongoing partnerships with churches, businesses, and volunteers across the county.
Johnny is known for doing the work that doesn’t always show up in press releases — organizing volunteers, stretching limited dollars, navigating regulations, and stepping in during emergencies when systems fall short. His experience has given him a firsthand understanding of housing instability, public safety gaps, infrastructure challenges, and how policy decisions at the local level affect real people in real time.
Beyond nonprofit leadership, Johnny brings a practical business mindset to public service. As a small business owner, he has experience working with budgets, compliance, licensing, and operational management, while also supporting nonprofits across central Kentucky. His businesses provide resources and solutions that help local organizations operate more efficiently, amplifying their impact. Johnny understands the importance of transparency, accountability, and return on investment for taxpayers.
Johnny is not a career politician. He is a neighbor, organizer, and advocate who believes local government should be accessible, fiscally responsible, and focused on solutions — not politics. His campaign is rooted in listening, transparency, and the belief that Nicholasville’s best days are ahead when leadership is willing to engage the community honestly and do the hard work.
